Join Our Wildlife Conservation Efforts
We are looking for passionate and dedicated volunteers to join the 1 Metre Matters initiative - a campaign focused on inspiring people to concentrate their minds on using 1 metre of their space to contribute towards increasing pollinator numbers and helping bio-diversity.
Whether you're a environmentalist, a wildlife enthusiast, or simply someone who cares about pollinators and nature, your support and skills can make a real difference. Volunteers will help with outreach and events, with finances and fund-raising behind the scenes, and with spreading the message in local communities and further afield. Join us in creating a better environment for nature and for everyone—because every metre truly matters.
At On The Verge Wales, we believe that every individual can make a difference in preserving our natural habitats. By volunteering with us, you’ll play a vital role in wildlife conservation, helping to protect and restore the diverse ecosystems that are essential for our planet's health. Whether you’re passionate about education, hands-on conservation work, community engagement or background support, there’s a place for you in our team. Can you spare just a few hours a month to help us? Together, we can create a brighter future for wildlife in Wales.

What Our Volunteers Say

"Since early childhood I have been interested in Nature and have over the last 15 years witnessed the ever-increasing degradation of our wildlife and lack of knowledge of our natural world by the human population. In 2019 I went to a Tri-town meeting which aimed at bringing three local towns together for mutual benefit but there was no mention of environmental matters. I asked the
question but was dismissed. After the meeting a group of 6 of us sat outside and I suggested that we start a group to do something about asking Powys County Council for permission to sow a verge with wild flowers to encourage conversation around the importance of pollinators and food production.
We were trying to think of a name and one of our contributors said “Come on, we’re on the verge”
and we said “That’s it” … and ‘On The Verge’ was initiated".

"I was looking for a way to give back to nature and help children appreciate their environment and On The Verge Wales provided the perfect opportunity. As group leader for Our Tiny Veg Growers,
it's been amazing to see the children grow alongside their crops. They’ve not only learned valuable skills but have also developed a real appreciation for nature and how food is produced. Watching their excitement when they harvest what they've grown is incredibly rewarding, and I’m confident that this experience will stay with them for years to come.
It's inspiring to work alongside like-minded individuals who are passionate about making a difference!"
